JEE Main 2024: Strategy for Physics

The JEE Main 2024 exam schedule has been revealed by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The registration window for Session 1 took place from November 1 to November 30, 2023. The exam is planned to be held between January 24 and February 1, 2024. Admit cards are now available. Results for Session 1 will be declared on February 11, 2024.

JEE Main 2024 exam: The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) is a gateway for engineering aspirants to take admission into several government and private engineering institutes throughout India.
The examination, which consists of two separate examinations, JEE Main and JEE Advanced, attracts over 9 lakh applications every year. The National Testing Agency (NTA) oversees the JEE Main, and the schedule for the 2024 exam has been announced.
The registration window for Session 1 opened on November 1, 2023 and ran until November 30, 2023. The JEE Main 2024 Session 1 test is planned to take place between January 24 and February 1, 2024. Admit cards have been made available for download on the official website, and for BE, BTech programmes, it is expected to be released anytime soon. Following the completion of examination round, the results for Session 1 are expected to be declared in February 2024.
The Joint Entrance Exam Mains is considered to be one of the most difficult and competitive entrance tests, with close to 10 lakh applications each year. Scoring well in the papers gives way to candidates to take admission into a renowned Engineering institute in the country, such as the NITs and IITs, and others.
The JEE Main Physics syllabus covers a wide range of topics, but not all carry equal weightage. By understanding which topics have historically appeared more frequently and carried more marks, candidates can allocate more study time to those areas. This strategic approach allows them to maximize their return on investment in terms of effort and score.

JEE MAIN 2024: Expert Advice on Weightage of Physics topics fromClass 11 vs. Class 12
With the JEE Main 2024 January session exams just around the corner, Mr. Ramesh Batlish, Managing Partner at FIITJEE and Head of FIITJEE Noida, discusses the distribution of syllabus topics in Physics between class 11 and 12. Specifically, he addresses whether the percentage of Class 12 topics outweighs that of Class 11. Here’s what he had to say, “In physics, students often perceive a heavier emphasis on the 12th-grade syllabus. While historically certain 12th-grade chapters have been more frequently asked than those from the 11th grade, my advice is for students to view it as a balanced section.”

He further stated, that aspirants should expects questions based on the topics taught in both the grades (11th and 12th). He said, “Expect questions from both 11th and 12th-grade physics, with some incorporating mixed concepts, particularly in electrodynamics.” He further added, “This might involve questions combining electrostatics with rotation or gravitation. Additionally, anticipate questions from modern physics, semiconductor topics, experimental skills, nanodiodes, and logic gates. Similar question patterns have been observed in previous years and are likely to continue.”
When talking about choosing specific topics to cover from the combined class 11th and 12th syllabus, he discouraged selective study. Here’s what he had to say, “I strongly recommend against selective study in physics. Instead, thoroughly review NCERT textbooks for experimental skills and focus on key chapters from the 11th grade, such as simple harmonic motion (SHM) in waves, mechanics, heat and thermodynamics, and work by energy. Pay special attention to SHM and rotation, as these chapters hold significant importance.”
